Tony Fernandes among #TwitterInfluence Index Top 20

KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia boss Tony Fernandes is listed at 16th spot

among notable CEOs from around the world in the #TwitterInfluence

Index Top 20.

Fernandes is listed alongside other well-known entrepreneurs like Apple's Tim Cook, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, and

Elon Musk of Tesla Motors, who occupied the top three respectively.

His followers on Twitter congratulated him, among them Halim Ismail who wrote: "Congratulations Tan Sri! You're in the top 20, man!"

Fernandes expressed his thoughts about the listing by tweeting: "Love

Twitter. Done a lot for me. Kinda cool to see this."

Billy Yau Ming Kong ‏praised Fernandes as "so cool" and urged him to keep tweeting as 'the tweet is mightier than the sword.'

Mahmood Razak wrote: "For sure you're influential even sans Twitter,

sir. There's surely a fanbase. From my first interview with you, I was

a fan."

However, there are those who blame him for making tweets that had apparently made fans at Queens Park Rangers (QPR) unhappy.

Mark Sofflet ‏wrote: "Well done. However, your Twitter career has done the square route of sweet FA for QPR. And that's how R's fans judge you."

Fernandes and his partners bought the majority stake in August 2011

shortly after QPR gained promotion to the Premier League.
