Man arrested over FB posting insulting TMJ and Johoreans

JOHOR BARU: Johor police arrested a man following two police reports lodged over a Facebook posting said to be insulting to the Tunku Mahkota of Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim and the people of Johor.

Johor police chief Datuk Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Wan Mohd said the suspect, 46, was arrested at about 11 am today on a fishing boat that was in the waters off Tenggara, Pulau Tioman.

"During the arrest, we confiscated two mobile phones from the suspect. We will bring the suspect for a remand hearing tomorrow (June 1)," said Wan Ahmad Najmuddin.

He said the police reports on the Facebook posting were made on May 28.

"The case is being investigated under Section 233 of the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Act 1998," he said.
