SUNGAI PETANI: Police have arrested six men involved in a five-on-one assault near Spring Inn Hotel, Jalan Padang Temusu, here yesterday.
In the 1pm incident, five men, aged 16 to 35, assaulted an unemployed 42-year-old man for allegedly having an affair with the wife of one of his assailants.
Kuala Muda district police chief Zaidy Che Hassan said the group assaulted the man near the Spring Inn Hotel before fleeing in a Proton Wira.
"The 42-year-old man sustained minor injuries to his head, face, and left thigh. No weapons were used during the incident," he said in a statement today.
Zaidy said that the case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.
He added that three suspects tested positive for drugs and five had previous records, including the 42-year-old.
"Five suspects will be remanded until Friday, except for one suspect who was allowed a one-day remand," he added.
