We won't underestimate our opponents, says BN of Kuala Kangsar contest

KUALA KANGSAR: Barisan Nasional (BN) will not underestimate its opponents in the Kuala Kangsar by-election, said state BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.

He said the four-cornered fight would not give BN an upper hand against its opponents namely Dr Najihatussalehah Ahmad (PAS), Dr Ahmad Termizi Ramli (PAN), and independent candidate Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary.

"We must continue with our humble campaign and we will not underestimate our opponents.

"This is a competition and anything can happen if we do not plan our election strategy," he said when met after the nomination process here today.

The menteri besar reiterated that BN candidate, Datin Mastura Mohd Yazid, was a winnable and likeable person as she was closed to the local people.

He said the BN election machinery was committed to retaining the seat in order to continue the legacy of Mastura's late husband and incumbent Datuk Wan Mohammad Khairil Wan Ahmad, who worked hard to develop the constituency.

"We believe Mastura can perform with the strong fundamentals laid by her late husband and continue to give the best for the people of Kuala Kangsar," he said.

The seat fell vacant on May 5 after Wan Khairil died in a helicopter crash in Sarawak on May 5.
