New Proton Perdana unveiled

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today launched the highly-anticipated all new fourth-generation Proton Perdana, signifying the revival of the national carmaker.

The new executive sedan was unveiled at a ceremony at Putrajaya International Convention Centre this morning, with Najib saying it could prove to be the turning point for the automotive company.

Najib said there were already 900 pre-bookings for the car, reflecting strong faith of the people in Proton and how they wanted the company to succeed.

The Perdana is developed via a strategic collaboration with Honda Japan Ltd.

Proton chief executive officer Datuk Ahmad Fuaad Kenali, in a statement, says Proton expects to sell about 3,000 units of the Perdana by the year’s end.

Also present at the launch were International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, International Trade and Industry Minister II Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan, Proton chairman Datuk Seri Syed Faizal Albar and Proton chief executive Datuk Ahmad Fuaad Kenali.

The new Perdana is priced at RM113,888 for the 2.0 variant and RM138,888 for the 2.4 variant.

The car is available in six colours – Ruby Red, Sterling Silver, Graphite Grey, Cotton White, Midnight Black and Citrine Gold.
