TELUK INTAN: A senior citizen died while four others, including an eight-month-old baby, were injured following an accident at Jalan Teluk Intan- Chenderong Balai, here today.
In the 11.45am incident, the deceased was identified as P. Rajassawary, 60.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad said the accident involved a tanker and a car.
"Initial investigation showed that the victim's car, driven by a 38-year-old man, lost control and swerved to the opposite side of the road," he said.
"It then crashed into the oncoming tanker which was on its way to Lumut," he added.
The impact of the crash caused the car to land on the roadside while the tanker ended up in a monsoon drain.
"The deceased was seated in front," added Wan Hassan, adding that she died while being treated at a nearby clinic.
"The other victims are being treated at the Teluk Intan Hospital," he added.
