MACC detains PKR Selangor branch chief over graft; RM30k cash found in hand

KUALA LUMPUR: The Selangor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) yesterday detained a former PKR lawmaker for alleged graft.

The man, a Selangor PKR chief, was brought in to help an investigation into alleged bribery, linked to a construction company which secured a tender for maintenance of public facilities.

It was understood that the project was worth about RM615,000.

A source close to the case told NST that the 50-year old man was arrested at 3pm yesterday in Kapar, and was detained for 24 hours.

It was also learned that he was detained with RM30,000 cash in hand, which he had allegedly acquired from the contractor.

Selangor MACC director Datuk Norazlan Mohd Razali confirmed the arrest but declined to divulge further details as the investigation is still at an early stage and ongoing.
