Sisters killed in four car pileup in Kota Tinggi

KOTA TINGGI: Two sisters were killed in a four-car pile-up near the Tai Hong intersection at KM37 along Jalan Johor Baru-Mersing, near here last night.

Nursyahirah Mohamed, 23, and Nurhayati Mohamed, 10, succumbed to head and body injuries in the crash when the Perodua Kancil they were in was involved in a crash between a Perodua Viva, Proton Waja and a Nissan Vanette van.

Another two passengers, including their sister, Nursuhailah Mohamed, 22, also sustained injuries but are reportedly stable. The other passenger was not identified.

Kota Tinggi district police chief Superintendent Rahmat Othman said preliminary investigations revealed that the Proton Waja driven by a man, who works in a telecommunications shop, was heading toward Kota Tinggi when he allegedly lost control of his vehicle and veered into the opposite lane.

"The Waja collided with the Kancil, which was heading to Taman Sri Saujana, and the impact caused the Kancil to overturn before hitting a Nissan Vanette van and subsequently the Perodua Viva which was in front of it. Nursyahirah, who was driving, and her younger sister died on the spot," he said.
