GEORGE TOWN: A 19-year-old motorcyclist was killed in an accident when he rammed into a moving backhoe on the Penang Bridge today.
The victim has been identified as Mohamad Syazwan Osman, a jobless teenager from Kampung Manggis in Bayan Lepas here.
Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mior Farid Alatrash Wahid said Syazwan was travelling from the mainland to the island when
the accident happened about 8am.
"The motorcyclist lost control of his machine and collided with the rear of the backhoe.
"He died on the spot," Mior Farid said.
Mior said the case has been classified as reckless driving under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act.
A post mortem confirmed that his death was due to severe head injury from the collision.
