Johor Umno accepts Muhyiddin, Mukhriz sacking

PASIR GUDANG: Johor Umno has accepted the decision by the Supreme Council to sack Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir and to suspend Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal.

State Umno Liaison Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the decision made against the three leaders was necessary despite its difficulty. He said that a firm decision needed to made on the matter of the trio.

"The Umno Supreme Council's decision to sack Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir and suspend Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal was very difficult, but it was very important and needed to be done.

"Johor Umno accepts the decision," said Khaled in a press conference at the Pasir Gudang Umno office.

The Supreme Council decided yesterday to sack Muhyiddin, who was the former Umno deputy president, as well as former Kedah menteri besar Mukhriz, from the party as their actions had breached party discipline.

Khaled said there was a need to make a clear decision for those who choose to fight for Umno, and those who choose not to do so. However, he hoped that the sacked leaders would continue their struggle to uphold the right of the Malays.
