Govt will continue to uphold people's welfare despite criticism

PUTRAJAYA: The government has always placed the people's welfare and interests as priorities despite being critised and defamed by naysayers.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the recent victory of Barisan Nasional in Sarawak, Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Besar were proof that the people chose the party that suafguarded their interests.

"This is why when some people say we "beri dedak"(give bribe), its an insult to the people because they can make their own decisions.

"They chose a government that can protect their interests," he said at the Federal Territories Nur Ramadhan programme here today.

Najib added that the government would continue aiding the people so long as it was able to afford it.

"Helping the people is our responsibility. People can say whatever they want but we will continue helping."
