Thai national with gun and bullets arrested along North-South Expressway

BUKIT KAYU HITAM: The Malaysian Border Security Agency (AKSEM) arrested a Thai national and seized a pistol and live bullets at KM1.3 of the North-South Expressway, upon him entering this country.

The man, in his 30s, was riding a motorcycle when he was stopped by AKSEM officers at a roadblock at 8pm on Tuesday night.

Kedah AKSEM commander Abd Latif Abd Rahman said the man tried to escape when he was told to stop his motorcycle.

He was, however, blocked by the officers.

"He had only just entered the country and was heading towards Changlun. He was aggressive when we tried to apprehend him," he said in a statement today.

He said the pistol and the bullets, 9 milimeter in size, were found in his trouser pockets.

Latif said AKSEM also seized the man's motorcycle, his passport and a mobile phone.

He said the man has been handed to the Kubang Pasu district police headquarters for further investigation.
