It's party tradition to have members with differing views, says Pagoh Umno

JOHOR BARU: Pagoh Umno division acting chief Ismail Mohamed today said that it is Umno's tradition to have members with differing opinions.

"What is the use of a party if there are no differences in opinions?" asked Ismail, commenting on the current sentiment following the sacking of its former division chief Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Ismail said it was natural for members to feel sad when their leader gets the sack.

“Moreover, Muhyiddin has been with the party for more than 30 years.

“No matter what happened, we have to appreciate Muhyiddin's contributions as a leader, as all that a leader has done will go down in history.

“At the same time, we must bear in mind that there will always be a change of leadership.

“I too, will be replaced one day.

“So our fight is for Umno, and not for an individual," he said.

According to Ismail, there have been no other resignations from the party except for the reported four so far.

He was speaking to reporters after launching a special three-day “pasar tani” here today.

Ismail, who is also the state Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Executive Committee chairman, said the “pasar tani” were organised in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

A total of 280 farmers, breeders, fishermen and entrepreneurs will take part in this year's event.

Other locations that will feature similar markets until July 5 include; Pasar Komuniti Mersing, Pasar Tani Kg Melayu Kluang, Pasar Tani Kekal Bukit Gambir, Tangkak; Pasar Tani Indahpura, Kulai; and Pasar Tani Sanggar Kota, Kota Tinggi.
