Fourth Hindu temple in Penang vandalised

GEORGE TOWN: A fourth Hindu temple in the state has been desecrated by vandals.

The Sri Muniswaran temple at Jalan Tunku Kudin here was broken into by three unidentified individuals at 5am today.

Three statues at the temple were reportedly destroyed by the vandals.

Deputy Chief Minister II P. Ramasamy said the trunk of a granite Ganesh was broken as well as its arms; the main Muniswaran statute was also hit with sharp metal object: while the serpent on the Sivalingam statute was also broken.

"The damage is not extensive but once it's broken we can't use the statue again."

He called on the police to investigate the matter.
