Woman burnt in Setapak petrol station incident has died, say police

KUALA LUMPUR: The woman who was set ablaze after allegedly using her mobile phone while refueling her car at a petrol station in Taman Setapak Indah last month, has died.

The woman, identified as T. Sarishna, 23, died two days ago at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

This was confirmed by Wangsa Maju district police chief Superintendent Mohamad Roy Suhaimi Sarif.

Sarishna had reportedly suffered 60 per cent burns to her body in the June 28 incident.

Reports had suggested that the was using her mobile phone while refueling, which supposedly triggered a spark which set her ablaze.

A petrol station attendant found her in the back seat of her car and alerted the authorities.
