Sultan of Pahang officiates International Islamic University Malaysia Medical Centre

KUANTAN: The Sultan of Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah today officiated the opening of the International Islamic University Malaysia Medical Centre (IIUMMC) at Indera Mahkota.

The ruler, who is also International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) constitutional head, signed a plaque to mark the occasion and later toured the hospital, which was built at a cost of RM412.6 million.

The 11-storey IIUMC on a 11.25ha site began its construction on July 2012 and was completed in May this year.

It is equipped with 350 beds, 15 specialist clinics, 20 operating rooms, intensive care unit, coronary care unit, neonatal intensive care unit and labour rooms.

Meanwhile, IIUM president Tan Sri Rais Yatim in his speech said the hospital not only caters to the training requirements of IIUM students, but also fulfil the needs of the people of Pahang.

"With modern medical equipment and conducive facilities, I am confident that IIUMMC is able to provide excellent service," he said.

Also present at the ceremony were the Sultanah of Pahang Sultanah Kalsom, Deputy Higher Education Minister Datuk Mary Yap Kain Ching, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob and IIUM rector Prof Datuk Seri Zaleha Kamaruddin.
