Saudi Arabia offers full scholarships for 100 Malaysian male students for 2017 intake

KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia today announced that 100 Malaysian students will be given full scholarships to further their studies at the Mohamed Bin Saud University in Riyadh for the 2017 intake.

The level of studies offered for this scholarship are the Diploma, Bachelor, Master and PhD degrees, and for all programmes except for Medicine.

The application is open to all male Malaysians. However, Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia Cultural Attache Zayed O. Al-Harethi said it will be open to female applicants in the future.

Requirements for applicants are; aged between 17 and 24 for Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree, 24 to 30 for Master’s Degree, and 30 to 35 for PhD.

Applicants must submit a copy of the last degree obtained, their medical report, passport copy and record of good conduct. These certificates and documents must be certified by the Saudi Embassy.

"This is the first full scholarship offered to a big number of students and for all disciplines of study, except for Medicine.

"There is a large number of Saudi students in Malaysia and we would like to have the same exchange in our country," Zayed told a press conference today.

Benefits for selected students include SAR1,700 (RM1,842) and SAR1,800 (RM1,950) for Bachelor of Arts and Graduate nominees respectively. They will also receive monthly allowances, free housing and full board, medical insurance and possibility of obtaining visa.

Those interested must submit their applications to the Saudi Embassy here by August 7. Interviews will be conducted on August 8.
