Johor Homedec offers clutter-free, space-saving solutions for homeowners

JOHOR BARU: Seeking to eliminate clutter, or dreaming of creating sustainable living conditions at home? If so, head to the three-day Home Decor and Design Exhibition (Homedec) at Persada Johor International Convention Centre.

The three-day event starts today and offers homeowners versatility on the latest home furnishing products from both Malaysian and international brands.

There are 400 exhibition booths set up by 140 companies specialising in home furnishing and design. Many exhibitors also offer products and services that help people to keep their home clutter-free, with space-saving solutions.

Event organiser CIS Network Sdn Bhd's marketing communications director Janice Gan said about 26,000 visitors are expected to attend the Johor leg of the exhibition.

"Last year, Johor's Homedec event recorded sales of RM18 million, and we expect this figure to increase to RM19 million this year," she said.

Gan said this year's Homedec features living concepts for senior citizens above the age of 60 displayed through two show homes at Level 3 of Persada Johor.

She said there is a distinct lack of awareness for home finishing for the elderly, compared to child-safe home finishing.

"For example, the most basic is the use of anti-slip tiles and to consider low drop or even-level flooring. Another option is using a wider house entrance for easier mobility," said Gan, adding that early planning for these items would save overall costs on renovations and investments.

Shoppers who spend RM200 in a single receipt at Homedec are entitled to enter a contest, offering a grand prize of a RM15,000 Natural Response Cash Voucher sponsored by Kingkoil Corporation (M) Sdn Bhd.

Those who spend RM1,000 and above in a single receipt stand to win cash prizes totalling RM100,000. There are also other special prizes to be won.

The Johor leg of Homedec will run until Sunday, from 11am to 9pm daily. Admission is free.
