IPOH: Celebrity preacher Datuk Mohammad Kazim Elias today said police reports and legal action will be taken against those who tarnished his name and the religious school here that he helped set up.
The Al-Baraqah Education Centre principal said he had to take stern action on the matter because his name and Maahad Tahfiz Darul Baraqah were implicated in a sexual assault (sodomy) claim that had recently gone viral in the social media.
"Prior to this, we didn't lodge any report as there was no mention my name or the school.
"But now, many people have said that it was me and the incident happened at the institution under my care," he said.
Kazim said he and the management of the school would file the police reports at the district police headquarters tomorrow.
At the same time, he said he would discuss with his lawyer on possible legal action to be taken against those who made the allegations against him and the school.
He said similar action would also be taken against those who spread the matter on social media.
As for the police probe, Kazim said he and the school management would continue to give their full cooperation to the police.
"We will not compromise if the incident did happen and will surrender the suspect, even if he is my own son," he said.
He said the school had investigated the case, which allegedly happened in April, when the mother of the 10-year-old victim lodged a complaint in June.
However, he said the case was considered closed after they had recorded statements from those involved and checked the closed-circuit television recording of the alleged scene.
Kazim said people should stop making assumptions on social media and let police investigate the matter.
