Father of Penang DAP assemblyman caught on video asking for "fast-track payment"

GEORGE TOWN: A video of a DAP lawmaker's father allegedly soliciting payment to fast-track low-cost housing applications is spreading like wildfire online.

Penang Gerakan Anti-Corruption and Land bureau spokesperson H'ng Khoon Leng, drawing attention to the video, has called on DAP's Sungai Pinang assemblyman Lim Siew Khim to explain her father's conduct.

H'ng also called on Penang housing committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo to answer claims of corrupt practices involving the low-cost housing applications.

"The video, which was released on Facebook page "Penang Kini"— shows a man believed to be the Siew Khim's father, Lim Keat Seong talking about the payment.

"The applicants were told to pay RM260 for a form and later "Agent Lim" or "Uncle Lim" would confirm the unit.

"However, it appears that Uncle Lim's clients had asked him to return the payment, as the promise for an affordable home never materialised," he told a press conference at the Gerakan headquarters here today.

In an immediate reaction, Siew Khim denied all knowledge of her father's conduct.

"I have not done anything wrong.

"I would like to stress that my father has no power to influence the decision of the state government and neither do I," she said in a press conference at her service centre here.
