KUALA LUMPUR: The sight of a giant balloon of the popular local animation character BoBoiBoy at the National Day parade at Dataran Merdeka today drew wide grins and cheers from children.
The audience was elated as a group of children, dressed as characters from the TV series, made their way in. The main character BoBoiBoy made an appearance on the giant screen during the animation segment of the parade.
The mood was again lifted when the animated BoBoiBoy, who possesses superpowers, asked the crowd to ‘assist’ him with the Merdeka cry during his short skit.
A total of 14,491 people from uniformed bodies, civil servants, corporate staff and students from 26 contingents took part in the parade for the 59th Merdeka celebrations. There was also a special performance and video by the police contingent, choreographed by ACP Danies Leong and directed by DSP Gazali Yunos.
A total of 248 military assets participated in the parade.
Looking sleek and smart, a total of 50 trained horses and 22 dogs from the army and police also had their field day as they basked in the admiration of the crowd.
