Man frees himself from handcuffs, escapes Seremban magistrate's court

SEREMBAN: Police are tracking down a 32-year-old car theft suspect who escaped from the magistrate’s court here on Tuesday.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Muhamad Zaki Harun said the suspect, was brought to the court for a remand application after he was arrested on the same day.

“The suspect, who was wearing black shirt, escaped after the application was approved by the court registrar.

“He also managed to get out of his handcuffs before fleeing the court with the help of a friend who had waited by the main road.

“It was raining during the 11.50am incident. The suspect’s friend was wearing a yellow raincoat and riding a red Honda EX5 with an unknown registration number,” he said.

Zaki said police have launched Op Tutup to trace the suspect.

“He has a previous record for a drugs case,” he said.

Zaki said an investigation paper has been opened under Section 224 of Penal Code for resistance by a person to his lawful apprehension.
