Najib praises PPR Raya Permai residents over herb nursery initiative

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said he welcomes community initiatives that seek to improve living standards like the Herb Nursery Project undertaken by residents of the Raya Permai People’s Housing Project (PPR) in Jalan Sungai Besi here.

He said the effort and attitude of the Raya Permai PPR residents should serve as an example.

“I’m glad to have been able to meet the community which has been working on initiatives to improve their living standards such as the Sungai Midah Herb Nursery Project and so on,” he said in his Facebook page at @NajibRazak today on his visit to the community this afternoon.

Najib also uploaded five pictures related to his visit.

The Herb Nursery project was developed under the Sungai Midah Local Agenda 21 (LA21) programme in collaboration with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), Universiti Putra Malaysia, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and residents associations. It was initiated four years ago.

The project was launched on June 17, 2012 as part of DBKL’s plan to make Kuala Lumpur a greener city.

More than 300 species of herbs were planted in a 1.2 hecter garden including ‘jarum tujuh bilah’, ‘semambu’, ‘putat’, ‘tenggek burung’, ‘kaduk’, ‘lemuning’, ‘sirih’, and ‘lemongrass’. -- Bernama
