Sejambak Kasih Hari Raya 2024 provides aid to 357 Sarikei residents

SARIKEI: The "Sejambak Kasih Hari Raya 2024" programme facilitated the distribution of RM14,269 in aid to 357 Muslim residents, marking a gesture of support during the Hari Raya celebrations, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit reported.

Sarawak Deputy Minister for Community Welfare Development Datuk Mohammad Razi Sitam said the government's objective was to aid targeted groups to improve their living conditions.

He said the Sarikei Welfare Office disbursed over RM1 million in March, benefitting 2,634 cases through various aid schemes managed by the Sarawak Welfare Department, which include assistance for the elderly, children, and individuals with disabilities.

During the event, Mohammad Razi presented hampers and cash to 100 selected recipients, aiming to alleviate some of their financial burdens ahead of the festive season.

This act was part of the broader state initiative to ensure the welfare and prosperity of its residents, especially those in vulnerable situations.

The successful execution of the "Sejambak Kasih Hari Raya 2024" in Sarikei underscored the collaborative efforts between government agencies and community organisations in the state, aiming to support and uplift the less fortunate.
