One killed, another injured in 3-vehicle accident in Kuala Terengganu

KUALA TERENGGANU: One man was killed and another seriously injured in a 3-vehicle collision near a junction at Kampung Pengkalan Atap, Batu Rakit here yesterday.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Idris Abdul Rafar said the deceased, identified as 31 year-old Mohd Shaifullah Adnan from Bandar Permaisuri in Setiu, was riding his motorcycle to Kuala Terengganu from Mengabang Lekor during the 7.40am incident.

Idris said Shaifullah, who worked at the State Family Development Foundation in Kuala Terengganu, was tailing another motorcycle when a Toyota Vios suddenly exited a junction in the direction of Mengabang Lekor.

“The car grazed the first motorcycle before ramming Shaifullah’s bike.

“He suffered internal injuries and was rushed to the Batu Rakit Health Clinic, but died while receiving treatment an hour later,” said Idris.

The first motorcyclist, aged 23, suffered a broken right arm and injuries to his body and was also sent to the same clinic for treatment.

Idris said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road and Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.
