JOHOR BARU: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi tonight attended a two-hour closed-door meeting and dinner with the Johor Umno Liaison Committee.

Zahid, who is Umno vice-president, arrived about 8.15pm for the meeting held at the Grand Paragon Hotel here accompanied by Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, who is also Johor Umno Liaison Committee chairman.

Also present were Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, Johor Umno Liaison Committee secretary Datuk Md Jais Sarday and other leaders.

It is learnt that 24 out of 26 Umno division chiefs in the state were present except for Ayer Hitam Umno division chief Datuk Samsol Bari Jamali and Pulai Umno division chief Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed, who are both abroad.

Tomorrow, Zahid is scheduled to attend a meeting with Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation committee members at 10am at the same hotel.

At about 2pm, the deputy prime minister is expected to attend a special security briefing at the Sultan Iskandar Building Customs, Immigrations and Quarantine Complex.
