Zahid tells Isham Jalil to attend Umno supreme council meeting tonight

PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamid has challenged Umno Supreme Council member Isham Jalil to attend the party's supreme council meeting tonight for the latter to air his grouses on the cooperation between the party and DAP.

The Umno president said Isham has been absent from the supreme council meeting for three times.

"Hopefully, he (Isham) is brave enough to be at the Umno Supreme Council meeting tonight to voice his views about how we had decided to cooperate with Pakatan Harapan to form the unity government," he told reporters here today.

Zahid, who is Deputy Prime Minister, was asked to comment on Isham's statement who accused Umno of being lackeys of DAP following Barisan Nasional's defeat during the Kemaman parliamentery by-election in Terengganu.

Isham had claimed that Umno was still being rejected by the Malays because the party, which should be advocating for the Malays and Islam, had deviated and is now willing to become a "lackey of DAP".

Isham was commenting on the results of the Kemaman by-election on Saturday, where Pas, through its candidate Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, retained the parliamentary seat with a majority of 37,220 votes, defeating BN candidate Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor.
