KUALA LUMPUR: Forty-two orang asli villages will benefit from the budget with an allocation of RM222 million for water treatment projects, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

He said the allocation also included economic and entrepreneurship development programmes as well as Village Resettlement in Sungai Ruil, Cameron Highlands, Pahang.

"A total of RM20 million is allocated for land survey in Sabah and RM30 million in Sarawak for Native Customary Rights," he said.

He also commended Tok Batin Awang bin Lijon from Kampung Orang Asli Jelebu, Negri Sembilan and Tok Batin Taha bin Ahir from Kampung Bukit Bangkong, Sungai Pelek, Sepang, Selangor for attending the 2017 Budget speech. The settlements of the two Tok Batins had benefitted from past budget allocations.
