KOTA KINABALU: Traffic police issued 139 summonses to motorists for various traffic offences during Op Samseng Jalanan here last night.
The operation focused on five main roads, namely Jalan Coastal, Jalan Lintas, Jalan Tuaran Bypass, Jalan Kepayan, and Jalan One Borneo.
District police chief assistant commissioner M. Chandra said the operation, which started at 11.30pm, involved 23 traffic police personnel.
“We arrested three motorcyclists and a car driver.
“The motorcyclists were riding without valid licences, and had also illegally modified their bikes, which we have seized.
“The arrested car owner, meanwhile, had a traffic arrest warrant,” he said.
In another operation that targeted impaired or intoxicated drivers, Chandra said three motorists, aged between 40 and 42, were nabbed for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Op Mabuk, which ran from 3am to 5am today, saw 11 people undergoing alcohol detection tests.
