Challenging times but we will give our best to investors, says PNB

SEREMBAN: Amid the current challenging economic conditions, Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) said it will continue to give the best returns to its 12.5 million investors.

PNB chairman Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar said the company will resume to generate returns by making wise investment decisions in the right asset allocation in its group of companies under its stable.

"The economy is challenging right now with low yields such as the five-year Malaysian Government Securities which gives a low return of 3.2 per cent compared to over four per cent before.

"Private securities meanwhile give returns of 4 per cent compared to 7 and 9 per cent previously.

"Its a challenging economic environment but we will give our best to our investors," Abdul Wahid told reporters here after giving out prizes to the winners of PNB Investment Quiz 1Malaysia 2016 winners (University category).

State-owned PNB manages unit trust schemes such as Amanah Saham Nasional and Amanah Saham Bumiputera with stakes in companies such as Sime Darby Bhd, Malayan Banking Bhd and UMW Holdings Bhd.

Meanwhile, the winner of the quiz was Tunku Abdul Rahman University College, Universiti Sains Malaysia (second place), Universiti Malaya (third place) and University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (fourth place).
