MH17: Malaysia to work with other countries to seek justice for victims

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will wait for the findings from international investigators on the downing of Malaysia Airlines' Flight MH17 before deciding on the next course of action.

Transport Deputy Minister Datuk Abdul Aziz Kaprawi said the government would not act alone in finding justice for the victims of the MH17.

"So far, the international investigators have yet to ascertain who is responsible for shooting down of the aircraft," he said.

Aziz said this today in response to a question from Datuk Johari Abdul (Sungai Petani-PKR) who wanted to know about follow-up action taken by the government over the tragedy in 2014 which saw all 298 people on board the Boeing 777 killed when the plane broke apart in mid-air flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur.

The minister said that once the international investigators have identified the culprits, Malaysia has the option to either proceed with "national prosecution" or choose an international tribunal.

Aziz said Malaysia would remain committed to work together with The Netherlands, Australia, Belgium and Ukraine in finding justice for the victims.
