Cops looking for main suspect in drugs, firearm smuggling case [VIDEO]

PUTRAJAYA: Police are looking for a 32 year-old man suspected to be involved in drugs and firearms smuggling activities in the country.

The suspect, Matthias Thian Yuk Wei managed to evade arrest at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 on Oct 8 and is said to have left for Miri, Sarawak.

Sepang police chief Assistant Commissioner Abdul Aziz Ali said a klia2 staff lodged a police report saying he had spotted a pistol and one kilogramme of methamphetamine in the suspect's luggage.

Following that, police arrested two of his friends and girlfriend at a house in Taman Bukit Desa Cahaya, Kuala Lumpur on Oct 10.

Aziz said police believe that Thian is still in Miri.

"In the house, we found a gun, five bullets, one kilogramne of marijuana, 50 foils of eramine, one kilogramme of methamphetamine and a few thousand ringgit in cash," he told reporters at the Sepang police station here today.

The three suspects were remanded until Oct 28 to facilitate investigations.
