[WATCH] Petronas ushers in 'Festival of Lights' via heartfelt web film

KUALA LUMPUR: Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) today launched an exclusive webfilm to mark the Deepavali celebration on Saturday.

Entitled, ‘I am Muniandy’, Petronas senior general manager of group strategic communications Zahariah Abd Rahman said the webfilm conveyed the message that one should never let appearances cloud one’s perception of others.

“At the same time, the webfilm also carries positive universal values of tolerance, mutual respect and kindness for harmony, as well as unity.

“For every major festival in our multi-racial Malaysia, we, at Petronas look forward to bringing festive campaigns that celebrate the beauty and diversity of our multi-racial culture and traditions to all Malaysians,” she said in her speech before launching the Petronas 2016 Deepavali campaign here today.

Zahariah said the webfilm told the story of a young man named Muniandy and his friend, whose good intentions were misperceived and misinterpreted.

“Directed by Ismail Kamarul, the story follows the two friends in their plan to help an old folks home prepare for Deepavali celebrations.

“However, along the way in the execution of their plan, they are met with general suspicion arising from society’s misperception and prejudices,” she said.

Viewers may log on to the official brand channel at www.petronasofficial.com to view the three minute, 16 second webfilm which is available from Oct 27 onwards.

A 60-second television commercial excerpt of the webfilm will also be aired from Oct 29 to Nov 2. – BERNAMA
