MIRI: The search and rescue mission for the Australian tourist, who has been missing for more than a week since his trip to the Mulu National Park here, has yet to produce any positive results.
The Fire and Rescue Department deployed 22 men, which had began combing the areas in the national park to locate Andrew Gaskell since 8am today.
The rescuers were divided into three teams. One team has been deployed to scour areas between the Deer Cave and Marriot Trail.
The other team of rescuers were tasked with searching areas from the mission's camp to the Sarawak Chambers.
The last team, meanwhile, started their search mission from the Lagang Cave to Sarawak Chambers.
A Marudi Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the mission is ongoing, without any positive outcome as at 10.30am.
Andrew Gaskell from Queensland, Australia, who had been in Sarawak since early August, entered the national park on Oct 20.
Gaskell told his friend, a local, that he would return from the national park the following day. However, he has remained uncontactable since.
