Feet-tapping songS from The Canticle Singers

THE Canticle Singers proudly presents Music Of Your Life today and tomorrow at the Damansara Performing Arts Centre (DPAC) in Petaling Jaya.

This 90-minute show is The Canticle Singers’ debut at DPAC, and features an eclectic and enjoyable selection of choral and individual numbers from the world of musicals, pop, lounge, rock and jazz, performed by an ensemble of 17 singers (nine women and eight men) and a pianist.

Come hum along or tap your feet to the hit songs of David Pomeranz, Elton John, Freddy Mercury, George Gershwin, Goldrich & Heisler, John Kander, Lerner & Loewe, Lionel Bart, Paul Simon, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim and Tchaikovsky, with songs from Little Tramp, Les Miserables, A Night At The Opera, Camelot, Oliver, Pippin, The Nutcracker, A Little Night Music, and South Pacific.

Music Of Your Life was conceived by composer Zina Goldrich and lyricist Marcy Heisler based in New York, who have spent the past two decades infecting the Broadway community with their unique brand of comedic and theatricality in numbers. As performers themselves, Goldrich and Heisler have appeared at Carnegie Recital Hall, the Kennedy Centre Millennium Stage and the Ford Centre of the Performing Arts.

The Canticle Singers is an accomplished voluntary choir established in Kuala Lumpur in 1992. It comprises volunteer singers from all walks of life and different occupations and backgrounds. It has done 24 productions to date and probably offers the most extensive concert repertoire in the country.

The Canticle Singers was awarded The Boh Cameronian Arts Award for Best Group Vocals in 2014 and 2011 and won six nominations for the same award in 2014, 2012 and 2011.
