Runaway MACC officer nabbed for alleged wife abuse

JOHOR BARU: A personnel of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) who was believed to have abused his wife, was detained by police in Batu Berendam, Malacca, last night.

Johor Police chief Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd said the 37-year-old man, who was detained at 8pm, would be taken to the Segamat Magistrate’s Court today for a remand order.

The suspect, who worked at the Segamat MACC, was also found to have been absent from work and had a narcotics case in Muar last year, he said in a statement late last night.

Earlier, he said two police reports had been made against him and two investigation papers were opened under Section 323 of the Penal Code/Section 18 of the Domestic Violence Act 2005 for deliberately causing hurt.

He said the case was also investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal Intimidation. The two police reports were made following a story which went viral on Facebook, quoting a woman who was a victim of domestic violence by her husband who is a member of the MACC.-- BERNAMA
