GEORGE TOWN: The remains of a foreign national, with slash wounds on his neck and stomach, were discovered by passers-by this morning.
The body, believed to be of a Myanmar national, was found covered in blood near a temple at Jalan Pengkalan Bukit Tengah, Bukit Mertajam.
Seberang Prai Tengah district police chief Assistant Commissioner Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid said the victim has been identified as Kan Thuo, 37.
He said police rushed to the scene after being alerted to the discovery of the body.
The remains have been brought to the Seberang Jaya Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
