Alibaba, Tencent and Wanda Group keen on Malaysia's digital economy

BEIJING, China: Malaysia’s plan to develop its digital economy has drawn interest from some of the biggest names in technology, including Alibaba, Tencent and the Dalian Wanda Group.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said, in addition to his meeting today with Alibaba founder and executive chairman Jack Ma, he had also met with officials from Tencent and Wanda.

“All of them want to participate in the digital economy in Malaysia,” he told a press conference with Malaysian media here tonight.

Alibaba Group Holding Limited is a Chinese e-commerce company that provides consumer-to-consumer, business-to-consumer and business-to-business sales services via web portals.

Tencent Inc is China’s largest and most-used Internet service portal, while Dalian Wanda is a Chinese multinational conglomerate which is the world’s biggest private company developer and the world’s largest cinema chain operator.
