CALLING all junior chefs-wannabes in the country. This is an opportunity to sharpen your cooking skills and show the world what you can do!

KidZania Kuala Lumpur and Panasonic Cooking, in collaboration with celebrity chefs, cookbook authors and an international food artist, will inspire children to cook in KidZ vs Food.

The programme from Nov 26 to Jan 1, 2017, is an initiative to cultivate interest in cooking among children by introducing elements and processes that are both practical and fun.

KidZania Kuala Lumpur “mayor” Shahrul Nizar Ahmad said they want children experience the joy of cooking, build confidence and self-sufficiency that comes from successfully completing cooking tasks and challenges.

“Through KidZ vs Food, we hope to alter the way children look at food and cooking,” he said, adding that the programme will also benefit parents.

“They will realise that by involving the children in the kitchen, they arealso teaching children science in action, helping them to lay down the basic math, reading and time-telling skills, encouraging healthy food choices, building confidence and creativity as well as enhancing communication and bonding with their child.”

Among the celebrity chefs lending their expertise to the programme and professional workshops are Datuk Fazley Yaakob and Brian Chen. International food artist Samantha Lee, award-winning cookbook author Mohana Gill and the inspiring 7-year-old Chef Leah of Chef Leah With A Big Heart will also make an appearance.

The KidZ vs Food programme will end with KidZania Zuper Kitchen Challenge, a children’s cooking contest, where the top five finalists will receive prizes comprising Panasonic cooking appliances, culinary courses at the Young Chef’s Academy, autographed cookbooks, as well as KidZania KL tickets and merchandise worth over RM5,000.
