Over 3,000 GAUM members to march in anti-Bersih rally in KL

KOTA KINABALU: The Gerakan Akarumbi UMNO Malaysia (GAUM) will deploy over 3,000 members to participate in an anti-Bersih 5.0 rally in Padang Merbok, Kuala Lumpur, tomorrow if the yellow-shirt group decides to proceed with their plan.

GAUM chairman Datuk Zulkarnain Mahdar said GAUM members will be joining the members of three other non-governmental organisations and wear red shirts in protest against the Bersih rally.

"However, we are still hoping that the organiser of the Bersih rally will cancel their plan. If they call it off, we will follow suit.

"We also hope that they will not start any provocation," he told reporters here today.

Zulkarnain said this in response to the Bersih 5.0 organiser's plan to go ahead with the rally despite the fact that the Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar had already declared it as illegal. - Bernama
