KANGAR: A 26-year-old pharmacist was killed in a head-on collision involving a Perodua Kancil and a lorry along the Kangar-Alor Star trunk road today.
In the 2.30pm incident, Nurul Wahidah Maulat Othman, 26, was traveling alone from Kangar towards Simpang Empat.
Kangar police chief Superintendent Wari Kiew said police were investigating the cause of the fatal collision.
“Based on initial information, the victim, an assistant pharmaceutical officer, was traveling alone from Kangar towards Simpang Empat,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kangar Fire and Rescue Department chief Zaharul Amin Ahmad said the victim was pinned in the driver’s seat as a result of the collision.
“We took about an hour and a half to extricate the victim from the mangled car.
“The medical response team confirmed that the victim died at the scene,” he said.
The body was sent to the Tuanku Fauziah Hospital for a post-morterm while the lorry driver and his assistant suffered minor injuries.
