TODAY, you died. I watched the life drain slowly from your eyes, and had tears in mine. You never stopped smiling. Never stopped loving us. I’ve lived with you for more than half my life, and when you started going blind and your legs gave way, every day was heartbreaking.
You fought bravely in the last year of your life, but there came a point when you didn’t deserve all the suffering you went through. I’m sorry it had to come to this.
When I first met you, both of us were children. I could hold you in one hand!
We grew up together. You took care of me, and I, you, and nothing could tear us apart. I never expected the day when death would actually come.
I love you with all my heart, and my only regret is not loving you more. Pumpkin, you’ll always occupy a space in my heart.
Appreciate your pets while you have them. What I wouldn’t give to have another day with Pumpkin.
Remember, pets are living, feeling creatures, and shouldn’t be treated as “toys” to play with only when you desire. Never forget: they are around for only a part of your life, but you are their entire lives.
