GEORGE TOWN: Part of the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway was closed off today to enable police to conduct ballistic tests as part of their probe into a fatal shooting case last week.
The stretch, from the Jalan Ahmad Nor junction to the Penang Bridge exit, has been closed since 10.30am to facilitate the investigation.
All vehicles heading down to Bayan Lepas or the bridge have been diverted to Jalan Ahmad Nor, Jalan Jelutong, and Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, while those heading to The Light Condominium have been asked to use the Gelugor roundabout.
The road diversion led to bumper to bumper traffic at Jalan Scotland, Jalan Masjid Negeri, Jalan Ahmad Nor and Jalan Jelutong.
The Jalan Ahmad Nor junction heading to the bridge is expected to be open at 2pm and the entire road would be fully open at 5pm.
