Ex-Selangor player urges Azmin to intervene in funding issue for state football team

KUALA LUMPUR: Former footballer Nazzab Hidzan has urged Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali to step in and end internal issues surrounding the state team and the Football Association of Selangor (FAS).

Azmin shocked everyone including FAS exco members when he announced that no funding had been allocated for Selangor ahead of their M-League campaign next season.

Nazzab, who played for Selangor from 1996-2000 and then again in 2005-2006, hopes Azmin will set aside any personal agenda to save the team from slumping further.

"FAS should have been notified earlier if there is no funding. With just a month to go before the Malaysian Super League (MSL), it is going to be hard to source for funds now.

"There is just no way of sorting this out on such short notice. It looks like there could be a possibility of Selangor going down to the Premier League.

"It has happened before and we really don't want to see it repeating.

"I really hope that all parties would put aside their differences and personal agendas to come together to discuss the issue at hand. We don't want Selangor to be forgotten by its own president," said Nazzab at a press conference organised by ex-Selangor players today.
