MAS A380 flight from London to KL returns to Heathrow due to defective door

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH1 from London to Kuala Lumpur, an Airbus A380, experienced a technical defect with one of its doors while flying over Germany on Wednesday.

In a travel advisory issued today, MAS said noise and vibration detected from the door was deemed of no immediate risk.

Nevertheless, the aircraft circled back and returned to London out of an abundance of caution.

"The aircraft is due to land at London Heathrow and will be evaluated by engineering staff and Airbus technical staff.

"In the interest of passengers' safety, the flight captain decided to return to Heathrow Airport," the advisory said, adding that MH1 is serviced daily by the Airbus A380-800.
