T'ganu floods: Numbers of evacuees up to 3,126 across six districts

KUALA TERENGGANU: This evening, even more people had to be evacuated in Terengganu as floodwaters rose. A total of 3,126 people from 862 families were evacuated to 48 relief centres across six districts.

According to the state’s flood portal e-tindakan.gov.my, as of 6.30pm, the number of people moving to relief centres has surged compared to this morning, where 785 people from 210 families were evacuated to 11 relief centres.

In Hulu Terengganu, 773 people from 223 families are taking shelters at nine relief centres compared to 207 people from 71 families at two relief centres in the morning.

In the Besut district, 14 relief centres were reopened after 1,431 people from 363 families evacuated, compared to six operating relief centres catering to 474 victims from 111 families this morning.

In Dungun, 84 victims from 18 families remained at two relief centres and no additional evacuees were reported this evening.

In Marang, 30 victims from 10 families are still seeking shelter at SK Pasir Putih.

The portal also recorded that in Setiu, 627 people from 176 families moved to eight relief centres, while 183 victims from 72 families sought shelter at eight relief centres in Kemaman.
