Dota 2 fans, here's how you can watch the ESL One Genting DOTA 2 tournament for free

KUALA LUMPUR: Are you a fan of DOTA 2? If so, we've got good news for you.

Fans of electronic sports (e-sports) will be able to watch the ESL One Genting DOTA 2 tournament via Media Prima Television Networks’ (MPTN) video streaming portal.

The event, which will take place at the Arena of Stars in Genting Highlands, will see eight of the world’s top teams, including Malaysia’s Fnatic, battle it out for the ESL One Championship title and prize pool of US$250,000 (RM1.1 million).

High Definition (HD) live streaming of all the events – two days of semi-finals and the grand finals on January 6, 7 and 8 respectively at 6pm onwards daily - will be available for free to all registered Tonton users.

MPTN chief executive officer Datuk Kamal Khalid said the company is continuously expanding sports content through their media platforms as the inclusion of e-sports has the potential to attract urban viewers and sports aficionados.

“We are truly honoured to be given the privilege of bringing e-sports to Malaysians for the first time as the DOTA 2 craze is rapidly gaining popularity among gamers in the country.

“Besides, this is the best platform and opportunity for all DOTA 2 fans who cannot make it to Genting Highlands to watch their favourite teams in action,” he said in a statement today.

ESL One is the world’s largest independent league for e-sports.

Its Asia Managing director Piantchenko-Graf Mickael said: “We are very excited to be in Malaysia. For those who are not able to come and experience our world-class tournament, Tonton will be the place to watch and feel the action."
