Toddler found abandoned in house after mum leaves for hometown [VIDEO]

TAMPIN: A three-year-old boy was found alone at a house in Kampung Parit Buloh Air Kuning Selatan here, believed to have been left to his own devices by his mother.

It is learnt that the mother had gone back to her hometown and the boy was discovered by villagers who heard his cries at around 12.45am.

Acting on a report lodged by villagers, a police team which was rushed to the location found the boy locked up in house with no lights on.

"(They) provided food and drink to the boy before he was sent to the Tampin Hospital for treatment," said District police chief Superintendent Hamazah Ab Razak.

"An investigation was carried out and the boy's mother was arrested yesterday.

“The 29-year-old woman admitted that she had left her son and went back to her hometown with her two other sons at 6pm yesterday.

"The woman claimed that her husband, family and neighbours were not aware of the existence of her three-year-old son who was born out of wedlock, before she married her second husband," Hamzah said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 33 of Child Act 2001.
