Pas ready to discuss alliance with other parties to face GE14

KUALA KANGSAR: Pas’ central committee will meet this month to discuss an alliance with interested parties to face the coming general elections.

Pas spiritual leader Hashim Jasin, however, said they will evaluate interested parties’ stand on Islam, and whether they are in line with Pas’ ideology.

"We are open to discussion with anyone on strengthening the third bloc, but the party must be led by Muslims.

"We will not allow other parties (to dominate), or it will affect everything, as what happened previously. Pas must protect against this," Hashim said in his speech at Ceramah Perdana Pas in Kampung Talang last night.

Hashim said the idea of a “third bloc” is not new, as it existed during Prophet Muhammad's time when facing the Roman and Persian empires.

Also present was Perak Pas commissioner Razman Zakaria.

Razman said Perak Pas is ready to face the coming general elections despite contests from various parties, including its splinter, Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah).

He said Pas has asked grassroots leaders to provide names of candidates for the 59 state and 23 parliamentary seats in contention.

"We are requesting that Pas’ central committee allows us to contest in 30 state and five parliamentary seats in the coming general elections," Razman said.
