KL-to-Penang express bus skids into drain, one injured

KUALA KANGSAR: One passenger was injured when an express bus carrying 15 people, including the driver, skidded and tumbled into a drain at Km233.2 (north-bound) of the North-South Expressway today.

According to a police source, the incident occurred at 3.12pm when the 46-year-old bus driver is believed to have lost control of his vehicle.

The injured passenger, an adult male, was not badly hurt.

The spokesman said the vehicle was heading to Butterworth, Penang, from Kuala Lumpur.

"Preliminary investigation revealed that there was no second driver on board the bus," he said, adding that the injured man was sent to the Taiping Hospital for treatment.

He added that the left lane of the highway was closed due to the accident, causing a 1km-long crawl.
